Cleaning Up
By: Dirn Ovaert
"Another long day," Jouk said to no one in particular, "just another day of boredom." As he said this he finished off the last pirate ship in the belt, the crew no doubt having begged for mercy until their unfortunate demise. Jouk sighed, this was the fourth Serpentis incursusion into Allience space this week. As he prepared to return to the outpost he noticed a new signature on his directional scanner. A Badger, which was obviously no match for his tried and true Thorax-Class ship, known as The Jugularipper. "Lets see here," he said as he narrowed down the location "there we go, planet 3." He began to spool up the warp drive and preheated his neutron blasters. Going into the warp tunnel he thinks of his day, how much isk he'll get from those pirates, whats for dinner, and other mundane things. The warp tunnel began to open at the receiving end, and Jouk prepped for some quick cash on the industrial's valuable cargo. Landing on the "grid", he quickly takes measure of the situation at hand. The Badger from D-scan just sitting there, seemingly dead in space. He approached carefully, fully aware of the dangers of solo cargo transports. Tales of hot drops, surprise jumps, and locals coming to the victim's aid flashed through his mind as he neared his turret's optimal range. With one last check of the local channel, he strikes. The Badger, as expected, crumples under his guns as volley after volley is hammered into the industrial. He sits back, figuratively, as the overview shows the Badger halfway into structural damage. As he thinks for a second about the objects of value in the Badger's hold, he fails to recognize the Probe that warps in behind him. He looks back at the industrial as it is about to break, when suddenly he finds himself jammed with weapons locked. "What the hell!?" He said "Who's there?" He turns his camera drones to look behind him and finds a sizable fleet of Caldari ships. "Ah shit..." he says as his ship is almost instantly vaporized, barely giving his pod enough time to eject. As he warped off to a safe spot prepared previously, he noticed many death threats and insults being thrown through the local channel at him. Skulking away back to his outpost after such a humiliating defeat, Jouk checks his wallet balance for the required amount to purchase a new Thorax-Class vessel.
