A shiny shiny Rubi - Rubicon Changes Discussion

Lots of people have talked about the Rubicon changes beforehand.  I'm just gonna be here talking about the changes as they affect me and exploration.  Here we go.

Warp Speed Changes

Right now I am loving this change.  Seeing as how I normally fly frigs, it's a huge boon.  Now I'm much more able to get out and about with my Helios.  Yes, they did nerf the total warp speed on covop frigs, but with the new warp system I can still get around faster.  I believe time will tell if this was a hugely impactful change.  It should help us explorers keep an edge on those ganking cruisers in our sites.

Ghost Sites

Pretty big addition to the game, these sites are gonna give us players the first implants that we can manufacture!  Not only that, but recent hints (and a blatant statement) from CCP point toward brand new space coming our way.  Thing is, these new implants, or possibly more new implants, are how we are gonna get to these new regions.  I'm hoping DWBC can find some ghost sites around Nadire, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

SOE Ships

Very cool NEW ships, courtesy of the Sisters of EVE, tailored especially for our exploration lifestyle.  The Stratios (Cruiser) and Astero (Frigate) get bonuses such as the usual virus coherence +10, ability to fit covops cloaks, and scan probe strength bonus.  As well, they have boosts to drones and lasers, helping them keep within their status as the Amarr/Gallente pirate faction (Not really pirates but you get my drift).  It seems to me the Astero is going to be a slightly more expensive covops frig with a bigger drone bay.  The Stratios, however, looks to be a possible replacement for my Helios, once I can afford one that is.  With a huge drone bay and enough space to fit everything exploration plus some combat modules, it may see lots of use from players of all kinds.

Mobile Structures

Not as big but still pretty big, these new structures have great usage potential.  Most of them are small enough to fight in a frigate's cargo bay, and provide useful options for everyone.  Lets just do a rundown of them quick.
Mobile Depot: Allows refits on the fly without need for an orca.  Small amount of storage space makes this kinda like a pos hanger minus the pos.
Mobile Tractor Unit: Will be useful for those of us who need to tractor a lot of wrecks, but don't have access to a Noctis.  The autoloot feature sounds nice though.
Mobile Cyno Inhibitor: All I can say is that I won't be using this thing.  Unless I really need to stop some jump freighters, which I won't.  Others may want to haul these along to help against hot drops.
Mobile Siphon Unit: Funny little structures that steal from your neighbors moon miners.  I might grab some if I can figure how to safely approach a pos.

Ship Changes

*I don't fly any of these (yet)
Marauders: New high slot module basically turns them into subcap Dreadnoughts, and now have a huge bonus to micro jump drive cooldown.
Electronic Attack Ships: To be honest, I never even knew these ships existed before.  They are just so rare.  But the changes aim to turn them into smaller, cheaper, just as effective recon ships.
Interceptors: It's a good time to be an interceptor pilot, with ceptors getting immunity to bubbles, super high warp speeds, and overall agility buffs.
Interdictors: Not much has changed besides getting some changes to mass and signature radius.  Once again high warp speeds=good times.

UI and Etc.

Along with various quality of life changes and visual upgrades, we got the ISIS system and a new "mastery" thing to replace certificates.  ISIS is really freakin cool; the interface is easy to navigate and provides most of the info you need to get into a ship of a specific group, though the tagging could be a bit more dynamic.  Masteries are still as weird as certificates in their requirements, but  luckily don't require you to train cruise missiles to get the stealth bomber certificate.  POCOs are going to be all over highsec now that you can blow them up.  It was predicted that only big groups will be able to compete in the POCO business, but you never know.  This is eve after all.  Lots of graphic and sound upgrades, plus the ability to refit your T3 subsystems in space, if you're into that kinda thing.  To round all this out we finally got an update to the character select screen allowing us to check out all our characters at once, plus skills, ship, and location.

o7 fly safe, happy exploring
