I finally have everything settled down irl and in eve. Next week is midterms at school, so not much homework to bother me. My new Megathron is helping me help my corp through missions. But in other news, the holidays are upon us! Which means it's time for your favorite games to start giving out gifts! Eve is always included in these traditions, and this year our gifts are coming in the form of an advent calender. Each day leading up to Christmas will grace us capsuleers with presents from the stars. My day 1 gift was a festival launcher, 100 snowballs, and 7 synthetic oil. Here is to hoping for great gifts this year! CCP rarely has disappointed with these events. Also, anyone around the Derelik region, prepare for a treasure hunt... Santa Spirit will be handing out gifts to anyone who finds him! All in all, this season should be nice and eventful, so make sure to fly safe.

ただいま... Good to be back!
Excuse my Japanese, I'm taking it as my foreign language for school. If you know what i typed up there you'd guess I finally returned to MRAD. Well you're right! No more thieving CEO, no more lonely roams, and no more empty pockets! Follow me for I will lead though to the land of plenty! *cough* Anyway, I've been busy with homework and like the last few posts said, other games. Blasphemy, I know, but someone's got to do it. I have no idea what I'm talking about. Back to EVE, I have moved back to MRAD and will start providing content-filled posts asap. Until then...

Fiction Friday: Keeping the Feyth
I may be a bit late today, but I'm still gonna post dammit! Anyway, today's fiction comes from fanfiction.net, a story called Keeping the Feyth by CLS-SamuraiJack. It's just a short story about an infamous man who has taken up employment in the Caldari Navy, then gets a call about an opportunistic venture back on his old home turf. It was posted on the site over a year ago, but is definitely a good read. One warning though, there is a large portion of it where the characters just talk about the logistics of their move. Here is the link: www.fanfiction.net/s/8483808/1/Keeping-the-Feyth

Happy Thanksgiving!
As the title says, I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving! So, please, before you blow up that explorer with a cargohold full of decryptors in your fancy Stealth Bomber, give thanks to him/her for providing manufacturers (like the one that made your bomber) with decryptors and materials to improve their blueprints and get ships more easily to you, at a cheaper price. Explorers, I'd like it if you guys gave thanks to the ganker who didn't kill you, the guy station trading, and anyone else you can think of who keeps this game dangerous and interesting for us. Now that that is out of the way, I need to talk about my corp situation. It's just something that needs talking about and tomorrow will be back to discussion and explanation. My current corp has gone fairly inactive, with 2 members most likely too involved with college stuff to come back (even though one of them is in charge of our POS), our CEO has disappeared along with our teamspeak server, and the last is a guy I never really met (he's been inactive as well). Suffice to say, we were a small corp. My plan, mentioned last post, is to return to our old corp, whom I have kept in touch with since my departure a few months ago. They have become more active since we left, plus there has been a shift of leadership in the corp. The old CEO was not on very often, so he stepped down and promoted one of the active members to the role of CEO. Luckily the new CEO and directors know me pretty well, considering that we had been in corp for around the same amount of time. My exit plan is to remain friendly with my old corp (who never gets on), but I am thinking of nabbing some cash from the vault for "hazard pay". The shift will happen within the next week, I would just like to try and finish Cybernetics V so I can finally plug in a Mining Foreman Mindlink. In any case, I might not be able to post for a few days while I finish moving things in-game and finish homework for school next week.

Slow times in Nadire / My Return
Things have gotten a little too quiet in my corp's channels. No one is on at the same time anymore, the teamspeak server is down, and I'm pretty sure our CEO has run out of game time, or jumped ship and left us to clean up. Meh. This is why it's always important to have a backup plan! I have one in the form of my old corp, Massive Consumption. They might be high-sec miners, but I know a lot of them, and have kept in touch with the new CEO since my departure. Now you might ask, "does this mean you won't give us posts about low-sec Dirn?", but rest assured I'm not leaving low-sec. I plan to commute to and from ops, and will continue to live in Raeg or a nearby system. I'm just too twitchy to live in hi-sec anymore. Very cheesy answer, I know. You'll get your fix of exploration regularly still (please ignore the 3 days I didn't post).
On to the real post now. I'd like to talk about a thing we should all know about, D-Scan. You'd better learn to use and love it if you want to survive out here. A T2 covops ship appears as a great padding for a killboard, and D-Scan can prevent idiots who do this from getting to your hard earned loot. Here is a list of some general rules I've thought up.
First Rule: Pull probes before you begin a site. This will allow you to see that the probes on scan are someone trying to scan you down's probes.
Second Rule: Spam the scan button while you do a site. This, a thousand times this. If you are not updating your scanner consistently, someone can easily quick-scan and jump you in the middle of a hack.
Third Rule: Set your scanner to max range for default. This will allow you to see if anyone will try and get close before they jump on you. When you have someone on you max scan range, you will know to be careful and prep to cloak or warp out.
Fourth Rule: Don't fly what you can't afford to lose. Cliche , I know, but it's also some of the most sound advice in eve.
Those are just basic rules, and there are many other ways to use D-Scan. If you want details on D-Scanning, either wait a few days or go look it up on Uniwiki.

I'm a bad/still pretty good guy
I'm such a terrible blog owner! I left you guys without a post for 3 days. 3 DAYS!!! I can't promise anything permanent, but i can promise that i will try and update more often than that. On to eve though... starting with my first standoff at a gate.
I get bored easily, so pvp SEEMS like a good outlet, right? Not so much due to my "pacifism", I really don't like shooting people. Also I dislike losing my money to a draining habit. Er, in-game not out-of-game. Shut up. Anyway I double check my Merlin's fit, then prep to find a guy who was hanging in Raeg. Instead of finding him, I find a Hawk sitting on gate. Not only that, but it's a Inglorious Squirrels Hawk. I'm going to say that they are our replacement for Lianowar Legion, a group that harassed Nadire awhile back before getting forcibly kicked by the local residents. Difference is that the squirrels are based deeper into low, so it's harder to kick em out. But I digress. This bastard is just waiting at the gate when i warp in. We begin to close the distance, 30 km. Hes red at -8.7 security status, I'm sitting at 1.41 or so security status. I know I won't lose sec from shooting him, but I still have no active pvp experience, he's in a T2 version of my ship, and I haven't tested my fit at all. "But this is our territory," I think as we circle each other, "I need to kick him out." We end up just orbiting each other for about 3 min before he jumps into Goinard. I resume my search for the other guy in system, but still don't find him. I really need to work on my hunting skills. Not maybe 2 min later my Hawk friend is back, and at the same gate too! This time I tell myself I will get him. Surprise on gate when there is a Pilgrim waiting there with my friend. I hesitate, considering asking the Pilgrim pilot for some help with the intruder, but before I can he launches drones and locks me up. My only thought now is FUCK. I thought maybe my Ancil Shield Booster would be able to tank his drones. Yeah, maybe just one. I got my ass out of there before the Hawk made his way over to me to scram me down. Sorry for no heroic tale of me kicking 2 T2 ship's asses, but that's life ain't it?
Happy Exploring, and may the scans be ever in your favor.

New Type: Fiction Fridays
Hey all, hitting up the blog today to introduce my idea for Fridays! Fiction Fridays, where I write or find a cool eve-related fanfic for you guys. In fact I have some ideas for it right now. Anyone wishing to participate, please send your stories to runemyth0@gmail.com. For me and everyone involved I'd appreciate some constructive criticism. Without further ado, the first story of Fan-Fiction Fridays!

Cleaning Up
By: Dirn Ovaert
"Another long day," Jouk said to no one in particular, "just another day of boredom." As he said this he finished off the last pirate ship in the belt, the crew no doubt having begged for mercy until their unfortunate demise. Jouk sighed, this was the fourth Serpentis incursusion into Allience space this week. As he prepared to return to the outpost he noticed a new signature on his directional scanner. A Badger, which was obviously no match for his tried and true Thorax-Class ship, known as The Jugularipper. "Lets see here," he said as he narrowed down the location "there we go, planet 3." He began to spool up the warp drive and preheated his neutron blasters. Going into the warp tunnel he thinks of his day, how much isk he'll get from those pirates, whats for dinner, and other mundane things. The warp tunnel began to open at the receiving end, and Jouk prepped for some quick cash on the industrial's valuable cargo. Landing on the "grid", he quickly takes measure of the situation at hand. The Badger from D-scan just sitting there, seemingly dead in space. He approached carefully, fully aware of the dangers of solo cargo transports. Tales of hot drops, surprise jumps, and locals coming to the victim's aid flashed through his mind as he neared his turret's optimal range. With one last check of the local channel, he strikes. The Badger, as expected, crumples under his guns as volley after volley is hammered into the industrial. He sits back, figuratively, as the overview shows the Badger halfway into structural damage. As he thinks for a second about the objects of value in the Badger's hold, he fails to recognize the Probe that warps in behind him. He looks back at the industrial as it is about to break, when suddenly he finds himself jammed with weapons locked. "What the hell!?" He said "Who's there?" He turns his camera drones to look behind him and finds a sizable fleet of Caldari ships. "Ah shit..." he says as his ship is almost instantly vaporized, barely giving his pod enough time to eject. As he warped off to a safe spot prepared previously, he noticed many death threats and insults being thrown through the local channel at him. Skulking away back to his outpost after such a humiliating defeat, Jouk checks his wallet balance for the required amount to purchase a new Thorax-Class vessel.

My explorer problem
It's so easy to find combat sites around Nadire, but lately data and relic sites have been scarce. Also I'm planning to do some regular roams throughout the week, but can't find my targets. Weekends are probably the time to pvp while during the week is okay for sites (if I find any!). Being tired while hunting/scanning probably doesn't help, eh? Last week I did find a data with a pretty good haul, some good decryptors and a Serpentis Warp Disruption Battery Blueprint.
The bpc is listed in contracts for about 40 mil at my last check, or maybe that was the product price. w/e. In other stuff, anyone interested in some friendly banter and whatnot should come join my corp's public channel DWBC Public. Shameless plug? Yes. Effective? No fucking idea.

A shiny shiny Rubi - Rubicon Changes Discussion
Lots of people have talked about the Rubicon changes beforehand. I'm just gonna be here talking about the changes as they affect me and exploration. Here we go.
Mobile Depot: Allows refits on the fly without need for an orca. Small amount of storage space makes this kinda like a pos hanger minus the pos.
Mobile Tractor Unit: Will be useful for those of us who need to tractor a lot of wrecks, but don't have access to a Noctis. The autoloot feature sounds nice though.
Mobile Cyno Inhibitor: All I can say is that I won't be using this thing. Unless I really need to stop some jump freighters, which I won't. Others may want to haul these along to help against hot drops.
Mobile Siphon Unit: Funny little structures that steal from your neighbors moon miners. I might grab some if I can figure how to safely approach a pos.
Marauders: New high slot module basically turns them into subcap Dreadnoughts, and now have a huge bonus to micro jump drive cooldown.
Electronic Attack Ships: To be honest, I never even knew these ships existed before. They are just so rare. But the changes aim to turn them into smaller, cheaper, just as effective recon ships.
Interceptors: It's a good time to be an interceptor pilot, with ceptors getting immunity to bubbles, super high warp speeds, and overall agility buffs.
Interdictors: Not much has changed besides getting some changes to mass and signature radius. Once again high warp speeds=good times.

Warp Speed Changes
Right now I am loving this change. Seeing as how I normally fly frigs, it's a huge boon. Now I'm much more able to get out and about with my Helios. Yes, they did nerf the total warp speed on covop frigs, but with the new warp system I can still get around faster. I believe time will tell if this was a hugely impactful change. It should help us explorers keep an edge on those ganking cruisers in our sites.Ghost Sites
Pretty big addition to the game, these sites are gonna give us players the first implants that we can manufacture! Not only that, but recent hints (and a blatant statement) from CCP point toward brand new space coming our way. Thing is, these new implants, or possibly more new implants, are how we are gonna get to these new regions. I'm hoping DWBC can find some ghost sites around Nadire, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.SOE Ships
Very cool NEW ships, courtesy of the Sisters of EVE, tailored especially for our exploration lifestyle. The Stratios (Cruiser) and Astero (Frigate) get bonuses such as the usual virus coherence +10, ability to fit covops cloaks, and scan probe strength bonus. As well, they have boosts to drones and lasers, helping them keep within their status as the Amarr/Gallente pirate faction (Not really pirates but you get my drift). It seems to me the Astero is going to be a slightly more expensive covops frig with a bigger drone bay. The Stratios, however, looks to be a possible replacement for my Helios, once I can afford one that is. With a huge drone bay and enough space to fit everything exploration plus some combat modules, it may see lots of use from players of all kinds.Mobile Structures
Not as big but still pretty big, these new structures have great usage potential. Most of them are small enough to fight in a frigate's cargo bay, and provide useful options for everyone. Lets just do a rundown of them quick.Mobile Depot: Allows refits on the fly without need for an orca. Small amount of storage space makes this kinda like a pos hanger minus the pos.
Mobile Tractor Unit: Will be useful for those of us who need to tractor a lot of wrecks, but don't have access to a Noctis. The autoloot feature sounds nice though.

Ship Changes
*I don't fly any of these (yet)Marauders: New high slot module basically turns them into subcap Dreadnoughts, and now have a huge bonus to micro jump drive cooldown.

UI and Etc.
Along with various quality of life changes and visual upgrades, we got the ISIS system and a new "mastery" thing to replace certificates. ISIS is really freakin cool; the interface is easy to navigate and provides most of the info you need to get into a ship of a specific group, though the tagging could be a bit more dynamic. Masteries are still as weird as certificates in their requirements, but luckily don't require you to train cruise missiles to get the stealth bomber certificate. POCOs are going to be all over highsec now that you can blow them up. It was predicted that only big groups will be able to compete in the POCO business, but you never know. This is eve after all. Lots of graphic and sound upgrades, plus the ability to refit your T3 subsystems in space, if you're into that kinda thing. To round all this out we finally got an update to the character select screen allowing us to check out all our characters at once, plus skills, ship, and location.o7 fly safe, happy exploring

My EVE Background: Part 1
As a gesture of goodwill I'll share with you guys my history with Eve Online. It all started one day while I was playing on Roblox. Was looking for a new server to play and ran across one called EVE Online or something like that. I load it up and am rather confused by the interface and what the idea of the game was. Not sure what to do, I grabbed a ship and mining lasers and started mining. Now unlike the eve we know and love, this server didn't have a lot of people, so no suicide gankers. When I was done I decided to look up this "EVE Online", cause the concept of the game seemed pretty cool. Once I found the site I signed up and began my 14 day trial, which thought was crazy long at the time (most mmos only had 7 day trials). If I remember correctly, I joined sometime during Apocrypha, possibly closer to Dominion. Like all newbs, I went through the tutorial, got some ships, and had no idea what I was doing. Seriously. I fit lasers onto my catalyst. We all make mistakes though, right? But I did eventually sub, specifically because I found that barges required you to sub to fly them. That's right, I subbed JUST to mine. It was totally worth it. Since then it's been an on again, off again relationship I've had with eve. Enough for today though, I'd better get prepped for Rubicon tomorrow. Fly safe o7
New post pointed Sir!
Hello all... the previous usage of this blog has been kicked to the side, so that I may become overlord of my own galaxy. New Eden is its name and it will be mine! Unfortunately plans that big require people and money to execute. Therefore, my friends, I have turned to the fruitful constellation of Nadire to gather cash and support. Both, it seems, are rather lacking. But no matter! I will become one of the Lords of Nadire!

In all seriousness though I'm gonna hang around this blog and kick around stories about my exploration adventures. I've played eve since , er, 2009 I think. I'm Dirn Ovaert in-game, so feel free to send me a mail or chat regarding anything you want. I'll try to get posts as often as possible, but don't expect anything like Jester's Trek.
